This is hopefully the first of many blog entries. I'm thrilled to be part of an amazing community of film makers, film festival organizers and film lovers!

My name is Shortie. I am very passionate about youth-created media because young people - our future - need a place to express themselves, display their talents, and share what they create.

I love my job as host of The Shortie Awards: International Film and News Festival. The Festival is open to children ages 7 - 18 and their teachers. Now in my 9th year as host of the festival, I must say I am always stunned by the beautiful films we receive! You can find out more about the festival at my website - www.shortie.org.
