The $120 Movie

Falling asleep 38 minutes into “Lars and the Real Girl” three nights ago was a sign that my film-watching patience and skill has dwindled now to virtually non-existent that I have become a father. It’s as simple as this: When you are exhausted from chasing around a toddler all day, the last thing you want to do is watch an art house film and analyze Ryan Gosling’s moustache icicles during a snow storm.

Why you and your career are like teenagers.

Spheres_titleProvided you're "eating right", you're growing every day.

I know it may not seem that way. At times you may feel like you're not going anywhere, that you're making no progress, that you'll never be "tall enough to ride this ride". I feel this way all this time.

Pam: Girl on the Loose

Source : Variety.com

TV Reviews: Given E!'s burgeoning celeb-reality lineup of notorious but beautiful women -- Denise Richards, Kim Kardashian and the Lohans among them -- Pamela Anderson fits right in, tabloid TV's veritable holy grail. Ishi: The Last of the Yahi

Source : Variety.com

Legit Reviews: A playwright well before he became the artistic director of Theater Rhino, the nation's longest-running gay theater, John Fisher has long demonstrated a keen interest in historical and military subjects that's atypical for gay venues. "Ishi: The Last of the Yahi" preems here sans any gay content or interpretation. This tale of California's purported "last wild Indian," who spent his final decades as virtual museum exhibit, offers absorbing, imaginative analysis of thorny ethical issues. The only major flaw is a hefty length that dissipates interest after the strong first act.

Film Reviews: Claws are definitely extended in "Good Cats," a sharp satire revealing the dark side of China's economic miracle that goes for blood and gets it too.

Gallipoli

Source : Variety.com

Legit Reviews: The world premiere of "Gallipoli," Nigel Jamieson's stunning debut with the Sydney Theater Company, is a deserving centerpiece for artistic director Robyn Nevin's flamboyant final season. Staged in the Sydney Theater, STC's biggest house, "Gallipoli" is a visually-stunning, high art performance piece. It features poetry, video imagery, intricate lighting, a cast of 35 and a trap-door ridden stage.

Public Enemy Returns (Gonggongui jeog 3)

Source : Variety.com

Film Reviews: A handful of messy, screw-up cops battle legions of impeccable, organized gangsters for the hearts and minds of Korean youth in Kang Woo-suk's third "Public Enemy" go-round. A return to form for the hugely popular franchise after its disappointing sophomore sortie, pic, well-scripted by Jang Jin, has the cohesiveness its predecessor so sadly lacked.
