Acclaimed film producer Mark Canton (300, The Spiderwick Chronicles) has been named Chairman of the 12th edition of CAPRI, HOLLYWOOD 2007 – THE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL” it has been announced by Pascal Vicedomini, producer of the highly respected gathering that celebrates cinematic art and the “made in Italy” cultural trademark. This year’s festival will take place December 27th through January 2nd 2008 at various locations on the Isle of Capri, Italy.

Ornella Muti and English actor Sean Bean have received The Capri Global Award by Fiuggi on Thursday, December 28, in honor of their international careers. Forest Whitaker’s race for an Oscar will come to the Capri, Hollywood Film Festival on December 30 with the screening of The King of Scotland, in which Whitaker portrays Ugandan dictator Idi Amin. The festival runs from December 27 through January 2.

The popular African-American actor will take time out from a crowded schedule to come with his wife and four sons for the special screening of the Kevin McDonald film as part of the “Kimbo Premiere 2006” series.

English director Ken Loach and Italian Emanuele Crialese have been selected for 2006 Capri Awards by Fiuggi as directors of the year. The two artists, along with the discovery of the year Fausto Brizzi, will be honored on the Blue Island on Thursday, December 28, the second day of the Capri, Hollywood International Film Festival.

"Loach and Crialese are two great artists who continually make superb contributions to European filmmaking” said Grazia Bottiglieri, vice president of Capri in the World Institute. Loach has already won a Palm d’Or at Cannes this year for “The Wind that Shakes the Barley”, and Crialese won a Silver Lion at Venice.

Bobby, the documentary by Emilio Estevez on the 1968 assassination of U.S. Senator Robert Kennedy, will be previewed on Saturday, December 30 at the Capri, Hollywood International Film Festival. (www.caprihollywood.com).

After critical acclaim at the exhibition of Venice and in the United States, the film will be seen in Italy beginning in 2007 thanks to 01 Distribution. Its Italian opening will be at the Blue Island where, among others, it will be a focus of discussion at the Fiuggi Symposium on “Cinema—Where are the Ideas?” The symposium will draw directors, artists, sociologists and communications experts to assess where the film industry is headed.

Borat, the smash cult-film hit of the autumn, will be previewed at the Capri, Hollywood International Film Festival on Friday, December 29.

After opening to big box office and big laughs in the United States, the creation of British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen has spread to the United Kingdom and France, and now will come to Italy for the great festival on the Blue Island after a stop at the Festival of Rome. In the satirical film, subtitled “Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan,” Cohen plays the part of a journalist from Kazakhstan who visits the United States and generates great fun at the expense of American culture.
