2010 Dance On Camera Festival Jury Shorts Award & Reception Photos

The 38th Annual 2010 Dance On Camera Festival (DOCF10) Jury Prize Shorts Award co-sponsored by New York Women in Film and Television and Dance Films Association (DFA) were announced by DFA artistic director Deirdre Towers at the Walter Reade Theatre, New York, Sunday, January 31, 7:30pm.  The award acknowledges the best in dance short films and emerging directors. The award immediately followed the nominated Jury Shorts program (BEGUINE, director Douwe Dijkstra, THE LAST MARTINI, director Vickie Mendoza; DANSE MACABRE, director Pedro Pires; JACKIE & JUDY, director Phil Harder; LITTLE EASE [outside the box], co-directors Ami Ipapo, Matt Tarr; BECOMING, co-directors Joseph Johnson, Camí, Ayelen Liberona; SUNSCREEN SERENADE, director Kriota Willberg; and CINETICA, director Ana Cembrero).

Since 1971, Dance on Camera Festival (DOCF) founded by Dance Films Association, Inc. (DFA), supports emerging and established dance filmmaker’s from around the world. In collaboration with the Film Society of Lincoln Center, DOCF annually presents international dance film that preserves and support dancers adaptation of their choreography on film. The festival tours internationally. DFA/DOCF artistic director is Deirdre Towers and members are Anna Vomacka, Amy Meharg, Arthur Aviles, Chris Henderson, Harry Streep, Kathryn Luckstone, Jia Wu, Jerry Pantzer, Joanna Ney, Linda Lewett, Louise Spain, Marlon Barrios Solano, Marta Renzi, Penny Ward, Terry Fox, Valerie Rochon, Virginia Brooks, Will Arnold, Yuliya Dagayeva, Zach Morris, and Zsoka Nej.

2010 DOCF included 40 films from 10 countries (documentaries, features, shorts, animations, premieres). The festival also included post screening Q&A sessions, award ceremony, receptions, and special events (Alwin Nikolais, The Tiny Dance Film Series). This year's recipient of Jury Prize For Best Short Film was awarded to director Ana Cembrero for CINETICA.
