ABOUT THE FESTIVAL In 1976, the legendary Orson Welles Cinema in Cambridge, MA ran a 24-hour film marathon called IT CAME FROM THE ORSON WELLES. Starting at noon on President's Day weekend and ending 1,440 minutes later, guests gathered in a single theater to watch classic, schlock and premiere science fiction films. The 'THON, as it became to be called, has become a sci-fan's treasured event every year since. The fest now includes ten days of new films leading up to the 24-hour film marathon, Boston's "Other Marathon". The 'thon is arguably the world's oldest running festival of its kind.
