The Wine Country Film FestivalSeptember 17th - 27th, 2009 Call for Entries Contact Info Wine Country Film Festival Executive Director: Stephen Ashton Website: http://www.wcff.us/ Check the dailies and videos -->Wine Country Film Festival April 23-27, 2009 "ONE OF THE BEST REGIONAL FESTIVALS" "UNIQUE PROGRAMMING and PRESENTATION" "WORTH THE PRICE OF THE ENTRY FEE" The Wine Country Film Festival, established in 1986, is a premier showcase of international feature films, short films and documentaries. The Festival includes theatrical presentations as well as the popular "Films al Fresco" screenings under the stars in spectacular vineyard settings. The Festival features films of all genres with special sections such as "Cinema of Conscience", "The Arts in Film", "EcoCinema", "Indies Today", "International Perspectives" and "CineLatino Showcase." In 2007 the Festival initiated an innovative project called "Paseo de España - A Celebration of Regional Cinema" which brings films from the Regions of the Iberian Peninsula and showcases not only the films, but representations of Regional culture, cuisine and wines. Luminaries as Kirk Douglas, Jonathan Demme, Richard Shepard, Philip Kaufman, Ron Shelton, Rita Moreno, Dennis Hopper, Anthony Quinn, Nana Djorjadze, Irakli Kvirikadze, Jane Seymour, Lynn Redgrave, Michael York, Nicolas Cage and Gregory Peck have come to our humble rural event. They attend because they share our mission to foster enlightened dialogue and increase cultural awareness and a sense of justice through cinema and the arts in the hope of creating a more equitable world. A UNIQUE PHILOSOPHY AND CURATING PROCESS Our basic philosophy could be summed up as: THE TERROIR OF CINEMA – "Terroir" in the world of wine making is what gives a wine its unique quality. The “terroir of cinema” is what moves filmmakers to tell stories that arise from their cultural roots. This way we as viewers get a "taste" of the cultural context through the films they make. The Festival has developed year 'round Screenings at various venues throughout the area and has developed "Cinema In Education" which provides films to enhance the curricula of school programs. CALL FOR ENTRY Late subsmission deadline is June 15, 2009. ENTRY FORM Click here to register .
