LA Film Festival: Centerpiece Screening of Joshua at the National

So as it totally happens during the festival... sometimes you have to not go to one event or screening to go to another, secretly hoping you picked the "right" one. Well, I had the choice to either go to a open bar cocktail reception with Women in Film at The Forum or to see the Centerpiece Screening of Joshua at the National.

I chose the screening, and here's why: I wanted to make sure that in all the hoopla that I see FILMS! It gets tempting to jump from one open bar event to another but I think it's very important to remember why we're all here... to view films! Right??

The film: Joshua. What a great film! Oh wait, let me start with the THEATRE. This was my first time at National Theatre. It reminded me of being a kid, it's so old school! Movie theatres used to be HUGE. I forgot about that until I walked into this theatre. I really liked it. Okay, back to the film...

I STILL have an uneasy feeling inside from this movie. This little boy, Joshua, is VERY disturbing. The acting is PHENOMENAL!!!!!!!!!! And the pacing...perfect. I loved this film but I am left with a horrific feeling inside. It's about this weird, mixed up little boy and his parents who are too caught up in the birth of their second child to notice he is getting weirder and weirder. (In a nutshell.) I don't want to ruin it for you but that's the gist. SEE THIS MOVIE. It's so different.
