The Board of Flickers and the Advisory Board of the Rhode Island International Film Festival are pleased to announce the promotion of Demetria James Carr to the position of Managing Director. A member of the RIIFF staff for the past three years, she will oversee the creation of events, participate in marketing and work on developing community awareness, among other duties.

Demetria Carr has a passion for the Arts and for the city of Providence. She’s the Managing Director at RIIFF and creates events, participates in marketing and developing community awareness. Demetria brings experience from Rhode Island Monthly Magazine and Vegetarian Times in Chicago. For 10 years she was an integral part of Festival Ballet Providence where she sat on the Board of Directors. Demetria is also Past President of Friends of the Ballet, the Ballet’s volunteer force. Demetria brings her enthusiasm and drive to RIIFF in hopes of expanding its presence in Rhode Island and beyond.

Demetria holds a BA from Skidmore College, a Master’s in Physiology from the University of Hawaii, and an MBA from Pepperdine University in California.
