Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin/Madrid 2009
Since 1997, Rencontres internationales, multimedia contemporary works of cinema, video and other audiovisual forms have been presented in the last months of the year, first in Paris, then in Berlin and lastly, in Madrid, a cornucopea of international 'art' works by lesser-known artists to the public, due to the more "difficult" nature of the abstract creations.
The aim ot Rencontres internationales is thereby, to offer a greater visibility of such works to the ordinary viewer, promote their circulation in areas they otherwise might not appear ,and to foster exchanges between the various creative media and between their artists, directors and the actors of that cultural scene.
• Paris, Berlin and Madrid are thus entwined in a positive artistic circle to reflect significant works of today's society and to encourage a deeper understanding of different artistic and cultural thrusts and what they purport to say.
• As in previous editions, the main accent is on contemporary creations and to show works incorporating research and different languages of human expression, with a connection to space and time reflected in audiovisual, plastic, and actions.
• The films presented represent a living creative laboratory, meant to be explored and discovered. Our wish is to set free the barriers between different areas of creation, different spaces, and their corresponding audiences and to bring them together, making this an open event - in motion.
• Future editions of the Rencontres Internationales will pursue this action, once more, opening up a zone for exchange and encounters between different languages and publics.
