“The old Barber” won Golden Peacok award at IFFI-Goa.

The curtain came down on the 37th Edition of International film Festival at Goa. The Chinese film “Old Barber” directed by Hasi chaolu won the top honor of Golden Peacock and Rs.10 lakh. The 105 minute is about the pure art of Barbers in Beijing.

The panel of jury, headed by Australian director Rolf de Heer with other Panel members, decalred special jury award, to Bangaladesh’s “Nirontar”, directed by Abu Sayeed. This is also an official entry for academy awards.

While thanks giving, Prataap Singh Rane admitted hiccups during the festival and assured to work hard for coming years to organize more festivals after the proposed convention centre is ready.

The 11 days Festival ended with closing film Babel directed by Alejandro Gonjalez from Mexico.

The festival received various criticisms from all corners, for failures in planning, lack of coordination, mismanagements administration, and mixing of tourism and creative film business.
