Lady Filmmakers Film Festival's blog

Lady Filmmakers Film Festival was created to provide an audience for women filmmakers. Our festival celebrates Lady Filmmakers and the men who collaborate with them. To qualify, women must fill the role of at least one of the following positions in the films: Writer Director Producer Cinematographer
We are holding our 1st Annual event October 17th & 18th, 2009 in Santa Monica, CA!
We are promoting short & feature movies made by ladies. Films selected are considered entertaining to broad audiences and showcase the commercial viability of Lady Filmmakers. The festival will honor a strong and influential celebrity actress or filmmaker for her achievements in the industry. One portion of the selected films will bring social awareness to issues facing today's women. We are looking for really entertaining and thought provoking movies and they don't have to be focused all on women's genre's or topics.
-Each Submission will get a film page with their trailer, movie web site, and filmmaker bios.
-We will have a hybrid selection process! The selection committee will review the movies & fans get to vote which movies they want to see!
-The committee will take into consideration which movies get the most votes!
-Films selected will be put into the following program categories; all programs followed by Filmmaker Q&A.

- LADIES FIRST- Films in this category must be premiering at the Lady Filmmakers Film Festival. Any genre.
- LADIES ILLUMINATE- Films that bring awareness to social issues that face women and families today. Any genre.
- LADIES KICK BUTT- Films that have an intrinsic entertainment value and/or portray strong female leads. Any genre

1st Annual Lady Filmmakers Film Festival Successful Opening!!!

The 1st Annual Lady Filmmakers Film Festival had the most amazing weekend!! Festivities were kicked off with a private Cocktail Party at the President of Mary Magdalene Project's residence. The programs were well received by filmmakers and filmgoers alike. The awards and charity gala was a hit and the after party was an event not-to-be missed at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel! We ended the festival on a high note with a fantastic group of panelists that kept the audience engaged and informed. All the films were hand picked for its terrific storytelling.
