Ang Lee will take part to Rome tribute event to Sergio Leone

The Oscar-winning director of "Brokeback Mountain" to take part in the evening tribute event the FilmFest is dedicating to Sergio Leone.

As a member of the Film Foundation, Ang Lee has been designated by Martin Scorsese to introduce the world premiere of the restored version of "Once Upon a Time in the West", a joint effort between the Fondazione Cinema per Roma, Scorsese’s Film Foundation, and Paramount Pictures. The project was announced in Rome a year ago by Scorsese himself, on the occasion of the RomeFilmFest’s debut, and has led directly to the retrospective on the spaghetti western on the program this year. Scorsese has asked Ang Lee to represent the Film Foundation at the presentation of the film on Wednesday, October 24th at 8pm, in the Sala Petrassi., for the evening tribute event that the FilmFest is dedicating to Sergio Leone in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and the filmmaker’s own family. Ang Lee is a member of the Film Foundation and a great fan of Leone, who was the inspiration for Lee’s Oscar-winning film Brokeback Mountain. His introduction will be preceded by a video messsage that Scorsese has recorded for the occasion.
