Fest 21's very own Bruno Chatelin was there with Eric Vernière from France Télévision Distribution and two of fest 21's reporters and is featured at the beginning of this montage.
54 feature films were selected among 1792 from 96 countries (up 11% over last year, and up 23% over 2 years). The festival will once again offer a mix of veteran filmmakers returning to Cannes, along with a few VIP star studded red carpet events and the fresh blood and energy of newcomers.
The stars glittered brightly on the Croisette Thursday evening at the premiere of Kung Fu Panda, DreamWorks Studio’s latest animated film directed by John Stevenson and Mark Osborne starring the voice talents of major Hollywood actors Dustin Hoffman, Jack Black, Jackie Chan, Angelina Jolie, Lucy Liu and David Cross.
The festival opened with Blindness. The Public in Cannes got their first opportunity to gaze at the stunning jury, lead by actor/director Sean Penn. THe people froom Cannes were so loud...we became mute :-)

On Wednesday, 13 February 2008, the FilmFestival Cottbus offers its annual presentation at the 58th Berlin International Film Festival. Venue is the Federal Office of the State of Brandenburg in the German capital city.
The Modern Master award is the highest honor from the SBIFF, and Cate Blanchett was on hand Saturday evening to receive it. Our own Melanie Waters spoke with Cate, as well as director, Todd Haynes, who presented the award. And if that wasn’t enough, we spoke with festival juror and “House of Sand & Fog” actress, Shohreh Aghdashloo and TV’s “House” star, Olivia Wilde.

Monday night was short and sweet on the red carpet. Although Woody Harrelson was scheduled to walk the red carpet, a miscalculation of traffic got him into Santa Barbara too late.
Julie Ramos did manage to speak with honoree, Javier Bardem about his role in No Country for Old Men.
Tuesday Ryan Gosling was awarded the first annual Independent Award by the SBIFF. On hand to present was the director of “Lars and the Real Girl,” Craig Gillespie. In addition to chatting with Gosling and Gillespie, Melanie had a quick chat with Roger Durling and “Summerhood” director, Jacob Medjuck.
