Antoine Virenque: Appointed as New President for EDCF

Following the recent elections to the Board by EDCF (european digital cinema forum) members, the new Board has appointed Antoine Virenque as EDCF President for the next two years.

Antoine Virenque has a Law degree from the Paris University and diploma of the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris. He is the General Delegate of the French Federation of Film Distributors (FNDF), which he joined after his military service in the French Navy, and Executive Director of the International Federation of Film Distributors Federations (FIAD). He sits for FNDF on the board of CST (Commission Supérieure Technique du Cinema) and has represented FIAD on the board of EDCF from its creation. He regularly gives lectures and talks on the cinema industry in universities and international conferences.

In accepting the appointment, Antoine stated:

"I am delighted to accept this position and excited by the prospect that EDCF is now positioned better than ever to be of great value to the cinema industry.

Following the recent elections, the EDCF Board now includes amongst its membership; four national film agencies, the technical bodies CST & Fraunhofer, European-wide representation of Exhibition & Distribution through FIAD & UNIC plus members from manufacturing and post-production. These Board Members are based in eight different European countries.

This is an important group that provides very broad representation and will be influential as the development of digital cinema moves forward".
