Guess who’s back?

It’s been a long time. Back in August of 2006, Matthew Curtis (Florida Film Festival Programming Director) offered me a chance to be the Programming Coordinator for the 2007 FFF. To me, there was nothing I wanted more, even though I knew I had to sacrifice a few things. If I took this job, it would mean that I wouldn’t be able to attend festivals for the next 7 months or so, nor would I really be able to write for Film Threat.

I had to come to grips with a reality that I wouldn’t be able to write reviews for independent films (as some of these films would end up being submitted into the festival and that would make for bad relations). And since I worked a full time job on top of this gig, I didn’t really have time to write blogs and make fun of the new Spider-man 3 trailer either. My amazing artistry would have to be put on hold too.

But a lot of things happened during these many months that I wasn’t quite prepared for. You see, I have a full time job. I work a typical 9-5 office job, Monday through Friday, so them pesky bills can get paid. On top of that, I was working 25-30 extra hours each week to do the festival gig. This insane schedule lasted from September to April (I still have about a week left doing post-festival stuff).

In November, however, something happened that really wasn’t supposed to. I got into another verbal agreement with my then boss, and it ended with me throwing the word “fuck” in his direction (I then packed my juggling gear and walked out). Sadly, that resulted in him giving me 90 days to find a new job. I was actually happy though that he didn’t fire me right there (I like money). Looking for a job with this crazy schedule though, proved to be more difficult than ever.

Wow, this is getting boring, isn’t it. This blog is like reading the inner thoughts of your 7th grade science teacher. Sorry about that. Fast forward a few months - I got another job and I was saved.

And now the festival is over (expect a few blogs about the course of the festival in the coming weeks, complete with pictures) and I am back. Oh, how I missed the Threat. I doubt I was missed though.

Since I’ve been gone, I noticed that CleanFlicks has returned from the grave. For those of you who don’t remember, I dedicated quite a few blog entries to verbally raping their idiocy. They took films clearly not geared towards families, and edited out all the nastiness. They finally got in a bit of trouble and disappeared off the internet for a while (thankfully). But now they have returned! They no longer edit titles, instead they only provide films which need no editing.

Smart move guys. I am glad you woke the fuck up. Oh, I just said fuck. Sorry.

My official return will be with a review for the upcoming film, Perfect Stranger. To my surprise, it’s not about Bronson Pinchot. Instead, it stars Bruce Willis and it looks like an unofficial sequel to Color of Night. We all remember how good that film was, don’t we. Can’t wait for the challenge.

Oh, how I missed you.
