The Northern Wave International Film Festival will be celebrated
from the 3rd to the 5th of March 2010. The philosophy of the festival,
upon which its name is based, is Nouvelle Vague, or New Wave. Like Nouvelle Vague,
Northern Wave attempts to revive the recognition of filmmaking as an
art form and the director as artist/author. An important goal of the
festival is to develop relationships between experienced filmmakers and
emerging filmmakers in Iceland and other countries. We are a visionary
festival that celebrates artistic and ground braking films by
filmmakers who dare to take risks.
The
festival will consist of a short film section and, for the first time
ever in an Icelandic film festival, a music video section. Bands will
be encouraged to attend the festival and support their videos with a
concert during the weekend. In this way, the musicians can make
contacts with filmmakers and vice versa.
Butterflies has closed its festival run last month at the First Glance Film Festival where it received one last Award.
We are very grateful to all who supported us throughout the festival
screenings and thank you to everyone who came to see the film, even
more special thanks to all of you who came and saw more than once <3

The French New Wave – known as la nouvelle vague– was a celebration of youth, Paris and, above all, cinema. Many people don’t know that the term nouvelle vague was first used in 1957 to describe the new generation of French youth, emancipated 18 to 30 year olds who were free-thinking and keen to throw off the legacy of the Second World War. It was only following the success of François Truffaut’s Les...
This year the Iranian Film Festival will be held in the Netherlands for the 4th time. On a new location in the city of Zaandam, a wide audience can once again become acquainted with everything the Iranian cinema has to offer. But not only the festival’s location changes this year: the themes of its movies will also expand and deepen. For instance, there will be special attention for Iranian hiphop, 30 years of Islamic Revolution, ánd we will take an interesting look beyond Iran’s borders in Central Asia. The Iranian Film Festival will take place between the 18-19-20th of December 2009.In the past four years, the Iranian Film Festival has made a name for itself by offering a very diverse program that is both independent and critical. The festival not only screens a vast range of films by well-known filmmakers but also searches for young and yet undiscovered talents, who get a chance to show their creativity in films, documentaries, short movies, music and animation. In addition, the Iranian Film Festivals sets a perfect stage for thorough discussions on different aspects of Iranian society, which are often represented only superficially by the media.
Also this years’ Iranian Film Festival promises to become a unique event, where visitors will be treated to the newest Iranian films and music shows. Special guests from in- ánd outside the Netherlands will moreover talk about their view on Iranian cinema and its relation to the current society as a whole.

Underground Exposure is a Film Festival and Screenplay competition for those of us who are unwilling to compromise our vision. We are dedicated to the Filmmakers and writers who are unyielding to the Industry forces that drain the creativity from todays Cinema with their sole quest for "MARKETABLE" material.
Our goal is to provide a venue for films that might not otherwise be exhibited. However, films of a controversial, confrontational, radical, provocative, subversive, offensive, obscene, rebellious, profane, conspiratorial, corruptive, volatile, violent, blasphemous, anarchic, or otherwise irresponsible nature are especially encouraged.

The European Independent Film Festival (ÉCU) continues its commitment of being at the centre of discovery, promotion and projection of the very best independent filmmaking talent from around the world.
ÉCU will showcase films that demonstrate quality, innovation and independence in both form and content. There are fifteen categories of films in this highly esteemed competitive festival ranging including features, shorts, documentaries, animation and student films.
While ÉCU’s goal is to bring worldwide attention to European independent filmmakers, there are also four foreign categories open to independent filmmakers from the Americas, Africa and Asia.
The festival will take place in Paris in March 12-14 2010.
The European Independent Film Festival (ÉCU) has established itself as a fantastic arena for independent filmmakers from around the world to screen their films to large audiences made up of a cinema-loving public who are seeking alternatives to the offerings of major studios, as well as to agents, talent scouts, production company representatives, distributors and established producers looking for new projects and raw talent. Of course several hundred independent filmmakers from around the world will be in Paris to participate in the ÉCU.
With interest from large sections of European and international press, this is a great opportunity for independent filmmakers to get recognition for their films. Attending directors will also have the opportunity to speak about their films at our “Speak to the Directors” panel sessions which take place throughout the festival.
“The European Independent festival has proved to be a true breakthrough for Indie Filmmakers in Europe. ÉCU 2010 offers European independent filmmakers the chance to screen their films to an audience hungry for high-quality independent films, exposes them to other independent filmmaker’s work and gives them a forum to exchange ideas with other filmmakers. I believe that all of this will help them a great deal in their future filmmaking ventures.”
-Scott Hillier, President of The European Independent Film Festival.
