Finnish films filled theatres to the brim
The 9th DocPoint - Helsinki Documentary Film Festival closed on Sunday 31st, its films and events drawing an audience of 27,000, of which 22,000 in the theaters alone. The first ever DocPoint Tallinn was also a success with its 2100 visitors. What attracted the visitors of DocPoint Helsinki most were the premier screenings of Finnish documentary films.

The 2010 festival was hands down the best year yet with respect to quality and content, and a wonderful way to end my eight-year directorship of Smogdance. Over 450 patrons were gifted with an eclectic mix of Drama, Documentaries, Comedy, and Animation.

The 33rd edition of The Göteborg International Film Festival broke a new record. In total 130 400 tickets were sold, to 32 000 visitors, for 720 screenings of 450 films from 78 different countries. This equals a 5% increase compared to 2009 and means that GIFF manifests its strong position as Scandinavias leading festival.

James Cameron may not be playing a film at Sundance, but that didn't stop his smash-hit Avatar from stealing the spotlight. At a private party hosted by Film Utah Magazine, Ubisoft and XBox revealed a sneak peek of the world's first game to be played in 3D.
The game allows you to travel through the make-believe world of Pandora as you fight off enemies in your Avatar. You have to wear 3D glasses, but the experience is very cool:
